It's not enough to talk a good game on doing populist, commercially effective work during a cost of living crisis. You have to look outwards, question your prejudices, and loosen up.
Absolutely loved this--I watched a bit of the ad and it made me happy. How much more “cool, slick distance” do we need in the world? I’d take this any day. Ppl taking themselves Very Seriously (perfume ads come to mind) are absurdly played out.
I’m not an ad person, but the Elton John commercial over the holidays was incredibly depressing. Trying to be joyfully glittery (the women) but came off cold as ice, un-fun, forced. I think the bloom is off the rose In terms of selling us on that soulless lifestyle.
It's gloriously awful and will do exactly what it needs to. The negative comments you list go a long way to further convince me how out of touch a lot of adland is I'm afraid.
Well written and a healthy perspective on the latest adland burning platform 🔥

Thanks Allison, totally agree. Hope for more soul and silliness in the years ahead.

Agreed – I can understand the kneejerk reaction, but you'd hope more people would question it
